Developers GallifordTry are now consulting on plans for a 29 story tower-block on Guildford Crescent. This is the former site of much-loved local businesses Gwdihw, Thai House and Madeira. The planning application has not yet been lodged but the developers have said this will be lodged in April.

The planned design for the proposed 262 bedroom, build-to-let development have now been published. You can see the plans here.

In 2019, more than 1,000 people marched through the City Centre against the plans to demolish the buildings on Guildford Crescent, and 20,000 signed a petition as part of an inspiring community-led campaign. Now is the time to urge the developers to dump these plans and come up with something in keeping with the heritage of the historic frontages along Guildford Crescent.

Sign the petition against the development:

We, the undersigned, call on the owners of 1-7 Guildford Crescent and developers GallifordTry to abandon their plans to build a 29-storey build-to-let tower block behind the retained facades of these properties and urge them to come forward with proposals which protect and recognise the historic nature of Guildford Crescent.

Stop the Guildford Crescent Development
