Due to the steep rise in Coronavirus cases across Wales, today the Welsh Government have confirmed that Wales will enter Tier 4 of the new COVID Control System from 28th December, with non-essential retail and leisure facilities closing on December 24th and hospitality closing from 6pm on December 25th.

The rules for Tier 4 are below:

These new restrictions will be reviewed after 3 weeks.

Tier 4 is obviously the top level of restrictions – equivalent to a full on lockdown. Let’s all do what we can over the coming weeks to get infection rates down and hopefully begin to move down the tiers and Keep Cardiff Safe.

The Welsh Government have made £340m available to support businesses affected by restrictions into the New Year. Further support will be available for those businesses affected by the new restrictions. Further details will be made available later this week.

The current Xmas arrangements are under review with further news expected today. The Welsh Government position is that only two households should come together to form an exclusive Christmas bubble during the five-day period.

The fewer people we mix with in our homes, the less chance we have of catching or spreading the virus. None of us wants to be ill this Christmas. And we don’t want to give coronavirus to our close family or friends.
