The First Minister has today announced new rules for the hospitality sector in Wales to help bring Coronavirus under control. The rules will apply nationwide and will come into force at 6pm this Friday.

Pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes will have to close by 6pm and will not be allowed to serve alcohol.

After 6pm they will only be able to provide takeaway services.

From Friday, indoor entertainment venues, including cinemas, bingo halls, bowling alleys, soft play centres, casinos, skating rinks and amusement arcades, will have to close.

These new restrictions will be reviewed on the 17th December and then every few weeks thereafter.

Current Picture in Wales

In today’s press conference, the First Minister said that over the weekend, the number of cases per 100,000 people in the last week in Wales had risen from 180 to 210 with a spike in young people now moving into the older and more vulnerable parts of the population. The infection rate is now at the same level it was just a few days before Wales went into the fire-break lockdown.
