It’s been my aim, ever since you elected me in 2015, to improve employment rights and protections. That’s why I am so pleased we are now, having won the general election, able to introduce a new law to make work pay and to improve security and fairness at work. The new UK Labour Government is working with Trades Unions and businesses to deliver the biggest transformation in workers’ rights for a generation.

During the election campaign we promised to introduce our New Deal for Working People in the first 100 days of a new Labour Government. Now we are ready to deliver, with a plan that includes:

• Banning exploitative zero hours contracts
• Ending fire and rehire
• Introducing basic rights at work from day one
• Strengthening Trade Unions
• Making sure the minimum wage is a genuine living wage
• Ending the discriminatory age related minimum wage pay bands
