In September 2023, the default speed limit in residential areas across Wales was reduced to 20mph. As the first nation in the world to adopt such a scheme, the Welsh Government has recognised the importance of continuously reviewing the impacts on local residents, learning from the successes and making changes where needed.

The Welsh Government has announced a new listening programme to understand what people want for the roads in their communities. There is a growing consensus that 20mph is the right speed limit in streets near schools, hospitals, nurseries, community centres, play areas and in built-up residential areas. The work now begins to identify the roads where the default 20mph limit is unsuitable.

That’s why I want to hear from you. Are there any roads you think need to change in Cardiff Central?

Click the button below to see which roads changed as a result of the new default limit.
