A big thank you to Andrew from YMCA Cardiff Group for giving me a sneak peak at their groundbreaking project on Bedford Place.

The new 18-bed apartment complex will be dedicated to providing safe and secure accommodation for young people at risk of homelessness in Cardiff Central. It will utilise contemporary methods of construction to ensure the apartments reach the highest efficiency standards to reduce costs for residents.

Key features will include:

  1. Modern, Safe, and Supportive Environment: Each apartment will be designed to provide a comfortable and nurturing space for its residents.
  2. On-site Support Services: A dedicated team of staff will offer comprehensive support services to help young residents with their unique needs, including life skills training, and access to education and employment opportunities.
  3. Community Integration: YMCA Cardiff firmly believes that community plays a crucial role in empowering individuals. The complex will be strategically located to foster positive interactions with local businesses and communities, encouraging social integration and reducing stigma.
  4. Sustainable Practices: Environmental responsibility is at the heart of the organisation’s vision. The complex will incorporate eco-friendly technologies to minimise its carbon footprint and promote sustainable living practices and utilise green technologies.

I look forward to returning when the project has been completed.
