There has been lots of misinformation about the 20mph roll out spread by Conservative politicians in Wales. During Road Safety Week, I decided to set the record straight.

There is no blanket 20mph speed limit. We can still drive at 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 and even 70mph on different roads across Wales.

It’s also worth remembering that 6 Tory Senedd Members voted in favour of these proposals, whilst the Leader of the Welsh Conservatives and the Secretary of State for Wales both campaigned for 20mph zones in their local communities.

They support it when it suits them and try to make political capital when it doesn’t. The priority and purpose of the 20mph policy is road safety, reducing the number of deaths and lifechanging injuries sustained on our roads.
