Labour’s missions for government, including sustained economic growth and clean electricity by 2030 will be achieved through a big contribution from Welsh steelmaking. Our plans to double onshore wind, treble solar and quadruple offshore wind in the UK will need a lot of steel.

This month Keir Starmer, Mark Drakeford and I visited Tata Steel in Port Talbot to discuss our green steel plan with unions, workers and Tata’s senior management.
