Jo Stevens MP, Labour’s Shadow Secretary of State for Wales, commenting on news the UK government has handed train operator Avanti West Coast a further contract extension, said:
“In the last six months Avanti has broken records for delays and cancellations, and the Tories’ answer is to reward that failure with millions more in taxpayer cash.
“People in North Wales will be astonished and angry that this is what success looks like to Tory MPs in North Wales who clearly have no influence with their government ministers. Broken railways are here to stay under them.
“The next UK Labour government will put passengers back at the heart of our railways, and build the infrastructure fit for the century ahead unlocking jobs and growth.”
