My repose to the autumn statement
My repose to the autumn statement

Britain has so much potential. But right now we’re facing a Tory economic crisis that’s holding us back.

After today, people will be asking themselves: Am I and my family better off with the Tories? The answer is no.

The mess we are in is a result of 12 years of Conservative economic failure.

Responding to the Autumn Statement, Shadow Secretary of State for Wales Jo Stevens MP said:

“The mess we are in is not just a result of 12 weeks of Conservative chaos but 12 years of Conservative economic failure.

“And all they offer today is more of the same – with working people paying the price for their failure.

“The Welsh government’s budget next year is worth £1.5bn less than it was when the Tories set it in November last year, so the Barnett consequential of £1.2bn promised today still leaves Wales much worse off.

“Labour knows that there are fairer choices to make, and that what our country needs is a serious long-term plan to get our economy growing again – powered by the talent and effort of millions of working people and thousands of businesses.”

First Minister of Wales, Mark Drakeford MS said:

“This autumn statement heaps further pressure on millions of people already struggling with the cost of living crisis.

“We will continue to do everything we can to help people through this difficult period – but all of us will pay for the UK government’s mistakes for years to come.”
