On Saturday, the Cardiff Central Labour Party teamed up with the Communications Workers’ Union to protest against the privatisation of the Royal Mail.

In Government and in opposition Labour has consistently opposed the full privatisation of the Royal Mail, maintaining the universal service obligation and the inter-business agreement between the Royal Mail and Post Office. These services are vital and I refuse to stand idly by as the UK Tory/Lib Dem Government tries to steamroller its privatisation agenda through the valuable postal services that so many people depend on and which we already own. The UK Government are undermining the long-term future of the Royal Mail, which is delivering a profit that helps pay for our schools and hospitals.

It was fantastic to be able to raise awareness and sign people up to CWU’s petition, and many thanks to Rachel Reeves MP, Stephen Doughty MP and Cardiff North’s Parliamentary candidate, Mari Williams, for coming along and helping out.
