This morning I had the great pleasure of attending the official opening of the new building at Adamsdown Primary School.

The school has received significant investment from the Welsh Labour Government’s 21st Century Schools programme, as well as strong commitment from Cardiff’s Labour Council.

We were taken on a tour of the school by a group of pupils, and shown round the new buildings, the learning spaces and classrooms.

There are currently 44 different languages spoken by pupils at the school so there are additional classroom spaces for support with learning English. Across the whole school there was a really positive atmosphere, with committed teachers and young people who are taking every opportunity to enjoy learning together.

The school council and pupil governors were proud to greet us, and I recognised several of them as they’ve been to visit me in Parliament.

I heard from lots of different pupils about what matters to them and what they enjoy learning, including from this Splott Albion player with whom I debated our world cup predictions!
