Fair Funding For Wales – 8 Sept 2017

The past seven years of Tory & Lib Dem austerity have taken many of our public services to the brink – especially council services. And dedicated public sector workers have borne the brunt of this destructive and disastrous political choice. Because that’s what it is; a political choice not an economic necessity.

And whilst money gets poured into England for flagship projects like HS2, we can’t even get funding for the tidal lagoon or the critical redevelopment of Cardiff Central station. I raised this again in Parliament this week and yet again, Alun Cairns had nothing to offer. Nothing to offer on replacement EU funding. Nothing for Wales.

The Fair Funding Wales campaign has been set up to campaign against Tory austerity which robs Wales of fair funding for our public services. This is causing hardship to families in Cardiff and right across Wales.

Tomorrow there will be a rally in Cardiff Central to take a stand against the Tories’ austerity policies and lack of funding for Wales.

Our economy is suffering, it is draining our cities, towns and countryside of decent jobs and fair pay.

The general election results here in Cardiff and across Wales showed that Wales wants a UK Labour government to deliver for the many not the few.

The Tories found a billion pounds on their magic money tree for their DUP bung but continue to penalise Wales.

Enough is enough. It’s time for fair funding for Wales so we can salvage what’s left of our public services.

Find out more about the Fair Funding Wales campaign on the campaign website here.

The rally will take place tomorrow, Saturday 9th September, from 1pm outside Cardiff City Hall.
