Refugee Week Coffee Morning – 29 June 2016

On Saturday I hosted a coffee morning to mark Refugee Week. I was really pleased with the large number of people who came along to say #RefugeesWelcome in Cardiff.

Refugee Week is an annual national event to celebrate the contribution that refugees make to communities and culture in the UK.

I know myself the contribution that refugees and asylum seekers make to our community here in Cardiff and I’m proud that we are a welcoming city to those who seek sanctuary.

I was joined by Alison from Cardiff Rotary Club who offered face painting to children (and some adults who joined in the fun!)

Thanks to St John’s Church in the city centre for allowing us to hold the event in their garden, and thank you to all our helpers and people who donated.

All proceeds will go to local charities which support refugees and asylum seekers, including Oasis Cardiff, Asylum Justice and Welsh Refugee Council.
