Pride of Britain Bus Comes to Cardiff – 26 August 2016

On Tuesday I visited the Pride of Britain Awards bus outside City Hall on its stop in Cardiff.

The Pride of Britain Awards Bus Tour aims to encourage people to get involved and nominate other people who work to make our world a better place.

Pride of Britain Awards are for people who have done brave or extraordinary things.

Individuals nominate others in their local community to recognise the amazing things they have done for their local community. Winners come from tens of thousands of public nominations and stories of remarkable individuals discovered by a team of researchers. These nominations are then whittled down to a shortlist from which a panel of judges made up of celebrated figures in national life decide the winners. The awards are given out on the 1st November on ITV1.

I took the opportunity to nominate Hope not Hate Cardiff for their fantastic work over the past few years in campaigning hard to get people registered to vote and help integrate communities.

I also nominated the Welsh National Football Team for the Pride of Britain Sport Award for their amazing summer, not only qualifying for their first major tournament for 58 years, but then going on to reach the semi-finals of Euro 2016. Wales inspired and lifted the spirits of so many.

You can nominate your own community champion – If you know someone whom you think is deserving of the award then nominate them on the Pride of Britain Awards website http://www.prideofbritain.com/.
