Application for change of use to a Go-Karting Centre at Unit 11, Dominion Way Industrial Estate, Dominion Way, Penylan, Cardiff CF24 1RF.
A planning application has been made by Go Karting for Fun trading as TeamSport, to obtain change of use consent for Unit 11, Dominion Way Industrial Estate, Dominion Way, Penylan, Cardiff CF24 1RF to operate an indoor Go-Karting centre.
The company currently operates an indoor Go-Karting centre at 14-15 Curran Road, off Dumballs Road.
The proposal is to operate the centre seven days a week from 9am to 11pm. This unit is in close proximity to housing in Ffordd Nowell, Waterloo Close and Harlequin Court, Penylan. Several local residents have contacted Jo Stevens MP about the issue.
The closing date for submitting comments and objections to the planning proposal is Thursday 5th November 2015. You can submit your objection online (and view the full information and documents) at:
You can also submit comments and objections by writing to the Council at Development Management, Room 201, County Hall, Atlantic Wharf, Cardiff CF10 4UW (remember to include the reference number).
Jenny Rathbone AM and I have started a petition for local residents to register their objection to this planning proposal. Sign here online to make sure your voice is heard. If over 50 people sign the petition, a representative of local residents is entitled to speak at the Planning Committee meeting in which this application is discussed.
If you have any questions about this planning application, please contact my office.
We, the undersigned, object to planning permission being granted for a Go Karting facility at Unit 11, Dominion Way Industrial Estate on the grounds of:
- Noise pollution (from Go Karts, continuous music and race commentary together with additional social noise from visitors and employees of the centre)
- Pollutants generally (risks could exist from diesel fumes and smells, and the increased traffic)
- Long opening hours (even if the planning committee are minded to approve the application, the opening hours should be strictly conditioned as the current application is for seven-day operation 9am to 11pm)
Full details of our objection and the reasons underlying it are available in the response provided to Cardiff Council’s planning department by Jo Stevens MP.
