Jo Stevens MP has opened her constituency office as a venue to collect donations which will be sent to support refugees in crisis.
The refugee crisis across Europe and at the makeshift camp in Calais has escalated recently due to large numbers of refugees particularly from Syria, which is beset by civil war. Over 4 million refugees have fled Syria since the start of the war (stats from UNHCR).
The bedroom tax is a pernicious and nasty policy introduced by the Lib Dem Tory coalition government. Two thirds of people affected by the bedroom tax are disabled. Around 3000 households in Cardiff have been hit by it. It has caused misery and hardship. It has cost more to administer than it has collected.

Thousands of households across Cardiff were last night denied an energy bill freeze following a vote in the House of Commons. Conservatives and Liberal Democrats, including Jenny Willott joined forces to block Labour’s call to freeze energy bills until 2017, saving the average household £120.

Napo Cymru, the Union for probation staff in Wales has voiced its dismay at Liberal Democrat MP, Jenny Willott after she voted in favour of the Government’s Bill to privatise 70% of probation work.
Ministers have massively miscalculated the number of people unlawfully charged the Bedroom Tax in the last year, figures released by Labour show. Responses to a Freedom of Information request show that claims by Iain Duncan Smith that up to 5,000 people had been affected by a loophole were underestimated by at least a third.
