Beresford Road Bridge to Re-Open

Re-opening of Beresford Road Bridge

Beresford Road Bridge has been closed to traffic since July 2016. Since then, a huge programme of works have been undertaken to demolish it and fully reconstruct the new bridge. Network Rail will re-open the new Beresford Road Bridge on Friday 17 February 2017.

Network Rail’s next package of work will see the full reconstruction of Splott Road Bridge, which will be undertaken in two phases, to help maintain traffic flow and pedestrian access over the bridge. From Monday 27 February 2017, the bridge will be reduced to single file traffic with the carriageway and footpath on the north side remaining open. It is currently anticipated that the south side of the bridge will be demolished in August 2017.

Phase two will be undertaken in 2018 where Network Rail will work to demolish and replace the north side of the bridge. Network Rail expect the bridge to be fully reopened in autumn 2018.
