BBC Consultation

I have received lots of emails from constituents regarding the current BBC Charter Renewal Consultation

I share your concerns about the future of the BBC. I am extremely worried about the impact of the plan for free TV licences for over 75's and the further cuts it is facing to its funding. These factors could well damage the independence of the BBC and impact on the quality and availability of its programming and services, that 97% of the British public rely on.

The BBC has a special place in the rich cultural history of Britain, and I firmly believe that people want to see a strong and independent BBC.

I want the BBC to continue to contribute to our cultural life while delivering value for money. I support its impartiality and believe in a BBC that provides something for everybody, and I believe the licence fee should be maintained.

I will continue to monitor this situation closely.

If you agree that the BBC is a cultural institution to be valued and accessible to all, sign my petition here.
